Grandma's here

Image
My parents landed a few days ago and C's getting much attention. Here he is on the trike for a ride around the garden.

Worms!

We spent some time working on our allotment (a UK communal garden) this past week-end. The soil provided very interesting things for C- including worms! Some of the poor buggers ended up with bite marks. Apologies for the sideways view- video from my phone is a different program and I can't edit it.

For the record

Image
Every once in a while ( here's the last one), I'll snap a picture of C and my hand or Bella's hand. I figure this give us a bit of perspective and growth. We are marking his actual height on the kitchen wall also. This installment: On my birthday, at the Tate Modern, on a very cold day.

Old MacDonald...

Image
There is a famous quote in Hollywood that goes something like: "Never work with children or animals". We went to a really good kids farm after our walk in Surrey. C had a brilliant time. Lots of goats, cows and chickens. And C was suitably noisy. Only one problem, this is the best picture of the time there. You could get C's attention OR the animals, but never both. He was also the best dressed kid for the farm out of everyone there today.

My Own Stump

Image
A walk in a forest down in Surrey resulted in lunch among the pines. C had his own stump for a seat.

Trucks

Bells has been working a great deal with C on his vocabulary. Everything has a name: food, bubbles in the bath, planes, animals, everything. Here C is reading a book and talking about the what he sees. Please no comments about the book being upside down- kids don't care about the details.

The Tower of London

Image
We spent a few hours today at the Tower of London for the christening of our neighbor, Isabella. It was a lovely service, in a spectacular location. One of the Beefeaters, on our way from the service the the reception, was gracious enough to scoop C up in his Sunday finery for a quick phone picture.

Lunch with the Godfather

Image
We had a perfectly delightful lunch with Andy (one of C's godfathers) and his girlfriend Sophie today. C was something less than delightful at times.

The Garbageman

At 6:45 this morning, we woke up the sound of C saying “tuk, tuk”. Apparently, he has realized the connection between Friday morning and the arrival of the Garbage Truck. It has a bright yellow light, and sounds like a big garbage truck should. So, Bells has gotten in the routine of taking him outside to see the sight. And now, one of the burly and bald garbage men comes over and chats with C in between tossing black plastic bags into the loud jaws at the back of the truck. It’s all quite a sight (worthy of a future picture): little kid in pjs, Mum in pink bath robe, big garbage man saying “Allo. Wadda you tink of da truck?”, flashing yellow light, all on a narrow street in the morning light.
