Camping in the UP

Image
Our first experience at camping out in the woods- cut your own wood, find your own clearing, etc. C picked the site. Told me how to set the tent. Found the stones and tinder for the fire. And slept soundly all night. Even next to a lake for a late evening dip.

La Brea Tar Pits

A pretty good museum and outdoor space in the middle of LA. It acutually is a big pit of tar. And then really good street food right across the street.

Zuma Beach

Image
"The most epic beach ever!" Says C.  The biggest waves.  Sight of dolphins and sealions.  Showers.  And no sunburns. And did we mention the size of the waves...

Up on Griffith Park

Image
That famous Hollywood sign is up in the hills of Griffith Park. We hiked into it today from the Observatory- scrub brush and sandy soil hills.  And then as a counter point, we toured the Walk of Stars in Hollywood.

Our Traditional Airport Breakfast

Image
Whenever we travel out of London, we've developed a particular habit. Our flights are usually in the late mornings, so we have breakfast at the airport. And for the last several flights, we've eaten sushi for breakfast. Specifically YO SUSHI. Now we're off to the second best sushi spot in the world- Los Angeles- to see D's gadfadder Mark.

D's End of term Dance Recital

Our Anniversary (and other important dates)

All of us out at The Royal Automobile Club in Epsom for a day of swimming, sun, reading and food to celebrate 11 years of marriage. Happy Fourth of July all you Americans!

Austen Leaves

The son of my cousin stayed with us for a few days last week. It was his first time in the UK, and now he is exploring the rest of Europe. He was great to have around and the kids enjoyed having more Americans around the house.
