A Classic D Story

Image
All about a trip to fix Mums computer.   And a final comment about the state of our car.

Bella's Birthday

Image
As part of her celebration, Bella suggested a walk around the Isabella Plantation at Richmond Park.  We've been here before .  And hunted here before . A little light rain and a tumble into a creek by D didn't slow us down.  The flowers were in full bloom and beautiful.

Bella's Little Discovery

Image
On her morning run today, Bella went away from all of the development and up the coast. She stumbled on a little bay, surrounded by wave worn rocks. It had a short ladder into the water. And lots of nooks and crannies where crabs, snails and other sea creatures dwell. We had it all to ourselves except for an older Swedish couple.

The Hartfield 2k and 10k

Image
A beautiful sunny day for a race across the English countryside. We're staying with John and Sheila, who also were marshalling the race. The kids did the 2k with both showing a strong level of perseverance. I did the 10k in a respectable time as well.

More Heights

Image
Bella and I did a swap on Wednesday.  We met in Central London, and I took the kids for the afternoon.  They got a chance to nip into my office and meet the people I work with at Insider.  Later, we found ourselves 100 meters over the Thames in a cable car! We started with sushi on the steps of the Tower of London- And then journeyed to the East End for the Emirates Air Line - a cable car that stretches over the Thames.  Well worth it, not expensive and thrilling for the kids (although I felt like I was always at the top of a roller coaster waiting for the drop). After a boat ride back into Central London, we had a French picnic in the park- baguettes, fruit and a bit of cricket. Video to follow...

Climbing during the school holidays

The kids and their respective friends went climbing as a special treat over the Easter half term holiday.  They really enjoyed it. About 6 meters off the ground "I practised on Sugarloaf in Michigan" Ready for Everest

Mothering Sunday

Image
Last Sunday was Mothering Sunday in the UK. As you would expect, the kids took it seriously.  Up before 8am, and down to the kitchen to make Mum hot porridge in bed. D did her part for the greater Mum community. Saturday morning, she made little bouquets of flowers at St Barnabas to hand out at the Sunday service. Sunday afternoon we drove out to the country pile of the RAC for a lovely lunch.  The kids complained slightly about having to dress "posh" though. To placate them, we all went for a healthy splash and swim after our roast lunch. On the grounds of the RAC
